2-羟基-1,4-萘醌是用于指纹检测的法医试剂之一，已被用作血吸虫蠕虫培养的化合物。2-羟基-1,4-萘醌是由惰性劳森氏菌产生的一种橙色染料。属萘醌类染料。2-羟基-1,4-萘醌用于染发和给纺织品着色。具有抗菌、抗真菌、抗炎、抗病毒和抗肿瘤等属性。2-羟基-1,4-萘醌抑制肿瘤细胞生长。刺激活性氧 (ROS) 的产生。;2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone is one among the forensic reagents used for fingerprint detection 2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, produced from Lawsonia inermis, is an orange dye. It belongs to the class of naphthoquinone dyes. 2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone is used to dye hair and to color textiles. It has antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antineoplastic properties. 2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone inhibits tumor cell growth. It stimulates the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).[An antimicrobial antioxidant dye isolated from Henna.2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone is used for preparing decorative hair and skin dyes. 2-Hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone also demonstrates antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. It also suppress the formation of hydrogen peroxide and superoxide radical anion by aldehyde oxidase-catalyzed reactions.

体内研究：

Lawsone (62.5, 125, 250, 500, 750 μmol/kg/day, 口服) 在大鼠中可诱导与红细胞氧化损伤相关的溶血反应。
Lawsone (200 mg/mL, 口服, 持续 8 周) 对大鼠结肠癌有明显的抑制作用。
