Exogenous acetylcarnitine enhances mitochondrial function in aged rats. As an acetate donor to coenzyme A, it increases the central and peripheral acetylcholine synthesis and function. 体内研究：

Acetyl-L-carnitine hydrochloride (100 mg/kg；腹腔注射；每日一次；14 天) 显著减轻新生大鼠缺氧缺血性脑损伤 (HIBD) 模型的脑损伤，改善神经功能，降低氧化应激水平，并减少细胞凋亡。
Acetyl-L-carnitine hydrochloride (300 mg/kg；口服灌胃；每日一次；28 天) 改善老年大鼠认知障碍模型的认知功能，增强海马区的突触可塑性，增加脑源性神经营养因子 (BDNF) 的表达。
