(RS)-AMPA ((±)-AMPA) monohydrate is a glutamate analogue and a potent and selective excitatory neurotransmitter L-glutamic acid agonist. (RS)-AMPA monohydrate does not interfere with binding sites for kainic acid or NMDA receptors.

体外研究：

(RS)-AMPA monohydrate (10-3-10-4 M) 导致培养的大鼠脊髓和脑干神经元去极化。(RS)-AMPA monohydrate的去极化作用显然是剂量依赖性的，尽管个体神经元之间的作用差异很大。(RS)-AMPA monohydrate在 10-5 M 下的应用仅产生小的去极化 (3-7 mV)，而在 10-4 M 下，去极化的振幅范围为 4 至 33 mV。(RS)-AMPA monohydrate还会导致自发放电神经元的放电速率增加，或者有时会在沉默细胞中引起短暂的动作电位爆发。(RS)-AMPA monohydrate 通过激活谷氨酸/使君子氨酸受体而不影响 NMDA 受体来发挥其去极化作用。
