α-ConotoxinGI最初是从鸡心螺的猎鱼毒液中分离出来的13残基肽，作为肌肉型烟碱型乙酰胆碱受体（Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, nAChRs）的竞争性拮抗剂，相对α/γ来说，对α/δ受体亚单位结合具有极好的选择性。
