MTBT is an anticancer agent and p38 MAPK activator. MTBT can inhibit tumor cell proliferation, induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. MTBT increases the phosphorylation of histone H3 serine in cancer cells, thereby arresting the cell cycle in the M phase. The specific inhibitor of p38 MAPK, Adezmapimod , can abrogate the cell cycle arrest induced by MTBT.

体外研究：

MTBT (2 mg/mL) 在 A549、HeLa 和 HepG2 细胞中导致超过 50% 的细胞活力丧失。
MTBT (4.3-17.2 μM; 24 h) 可抑制 A549、HeLa 和 HepG2 细胞集落形成。
MTBT (0-17.28 μM; 0-72 h) 可诱导 A549 细胞细胞周期停滞和凋亡，并诱导 p38 的磷酸化。
